Anupama Chopra NDTV I recommend that you see the film for the sheer pleasure of watching Salman Khan in top form. adi 1 An enjoyable action movie. It has all the tropes of the genre that I normally love with Salman in the lead. Although it doesn't bring new to the table but must see for action fans. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member There was a time when the ten year old me was very much into Salman Khan. We just got an internet connection and this was probably one of the first trailers that I saw on YouTube. I watched it after it came on TV Dabangg is something of a reboot for Salman Khan, after his number of flop and critically panned films. It is just what we would expect from the trailer, cast or even the poster. It's a pot-boiler film, a remake of a south Indian film, an over-the-top action-romance film and of course, a Salman Khan film. Obviously no one went to watch it thinking it's going to be something sensible, and that's why I'm gonna write a review based on that. Trust me, even with all the things I've said above it's still not good. There's something about south Indian films which simply doesn't translate well when they are remade in Bollywood. The reason behind this is because south Indian films are always trying to be light hearted and unrealistic. Bollywood, on the other hand, tries to be as grounded and "content/star-driven" as possible. As a result it simply doesn't suit it. In one scene there's the emotional killing of Chulbul Pandey's mother, and in the next there's Chulbul Pandey playing yoyo with a goon in front of a train. Then there's the Munni Badnam Hui item song. I bet most urchins who watched this film only did it because of this song. Honestly I don't see the appeal behind that song. Malaika Arora Khan doesn't look hot. She looks... average, if that makes sense. Now of course I won't talk much about the song considering how popular it used to be, so I'd rather talk about the other songs in the film. Tere Mast Mast Do Naen was pretty good, although the other songs ranged between cringy to average at best. The comic timings were surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting it to be that way. The action scenes were also pretty good, considering it's a remake of a south Indian film. The acting, however, that was the bad part. Cheddi Singh was fun to watch whenever he was on screen. Makhanchan Pandey was also a decent character, considering he's literally the only one who has any character development at all. Overall I'd say it's just another Salman Khan film, except it's the film which started the phrase "It's just another Salman Khan film". I don't have a problem watching it again, considering I've watched it more than ten times already from beginning to end. But since this film is so important to chhapris I'd say it's actually quite decent compared to the post-Dabangg Salman Khan films. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member full of action and thriller and all songs in this movie is superb Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Bollywood 50+ uncles without talent copying scenes from Hollywood movies and romancing women young enough to be their daughters is disgusting.. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Its was not that bad as I expected Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a good movie .. i love salman .. must watch it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
