Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting Tunisia's first horror movie marks a bold entrance into the realm of genre film. Bouchnak's debut wears its influences on its sleeves but fully embraces the darkness to bring a new cultural tale of gruesome, dread-filled horror. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 9, 2021 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times In the terms it sets at the start, "Dachra" is mostly but not entirely successful. It's not overtly political (though an argument could be made that it's partly about how Tunisia has changed since 2011's civil unrest), and it is pretty gripping. Jul 9, 2021 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety Originality may indeed be scarce... Yet this gory goulash of city slickers, creepy yokels, editorial jolts and cannibalism largely transcends its derivative basic elements, thanks to his astute, richly atmospheric handling. Jul 7, 2021 Full Review Ron Wilkinson It's Just Movies College journalism adopts a meat diet when three students turn a village into a sound stage and become the buffet. Rated: 9/10 Aug 20, 2021 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews A menacingly atmospheric low budget horror film. Rated: B Jul 11, 2021 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue This uneven yet promising debut from director Abdelhamid Bouchnak unleashes some genuine chills beneath the ultraviolent surface. A fresh setting in the French/Arabic speaking land of Tunisia. Littered with some truly disturbing scenes, I actually had nightmares about this one.
