Peter Rainer FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's very fortunate that this is a two-hander with two very photogenic actors. Jul 13, 2024 Full Review Sergio Burstein Los Angeles Times The truth is that “Daddio” gives both of them [Penn & Johnson] an unbeatable opportunity to shine and it is precisely thanks to them that the film works as well as it does. [Full review in Spanish] Jul 2, 2024 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com While I never fully bought that the two characters would engage as intimately as they do, their conversation still kept me glued to my seat, the graceful sobriety of the final moments even bringing on a handful of happily empathetic tears. Rated: 3/4 Jul 1, 2024 Full Review Lael Loewenstein FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) A pretty good little chamber piece. Jul 13, 2024 Full Review Lisa Laman The Spool Daddio is a bumpy ride, thanks to all the interesting thematic and visual possibilities left on the side of the road. Jul 10, 2024 Full Review Carla Renata The Curvy Film Critic Master class from Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn while providing a lesson on self worth and respect. CS I didn’t care for the nudity. and the sexting. Sean Penn was good at providing real input into the issues. The character Dakotah played was used to being abused and ignored growing up so her current relationship continues that theme. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/15/24 Full Review Rex So refreshing to see authentic human connection on the big screen. If you're tired of the pew pew pow pow of the superhero takeover, then this film is for you! Great writing and A level actors getting to sink their teeth into juicy roles. Writer/director Christy Hall is a super talent and delivers a compelling story, simply but elegantly told. I hope major studios keep investing in projects like this - loved it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/10/24 Full Review Mo Peaks What an amazing movie and amazing acting. Beautiful story and dialogue but it is not for everyone. You have to be a “human” for this movie to touch you. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/10/24 Full Review Che o Dakota Johnson and Sean Paul are good actors and worth watching Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/10/24 Full Review Carlos R. An interesting character piece with skilled performances from Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn who give us an entertaining conversation between really the only two characters in the film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/09/24 Full Review Barbara I could not take my eyes off Dakota Johnson!! And Sean Penn was also amazing! I loved the story as it kept evolving during their ride which, in my opinion, could have been longer!! I truly lost track of the time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
