Kenneth G A lesson in bad, bad parenting... though sealed with the proverbial yet doubly tragic comeuppance. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/06/23 Full Review miss m Not half as good as Obsession. It's too late. But Jeremy Irons ia a beautiful man. They keep casting him with unattractive and poorly matched actresses. And directors. Very sad. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/30/23 Full Review Teresa R Incredibly evocative movie delving deep into psyches of flawed characters ...believable and ultimately tragic..as life can often be.Great cast and directing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/15/22 Full Review john k Brilliant movie , worth a watch Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review pieter m There is something sweet about the naivite of the father and son. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member An overly dramatic film but still an enjoyable one. This film about an affair between a father and his son's fiancé is too dramatic at times and the outcome for the son is laughable. However, the interactions between the characters played by Irons and Binoche is well-acted and does keep your attention throughout the film. It doesn't feel like a Louis Malle film, where Au Revoirs Les Enfants and Atlantic City did. Although it is not as good as the other two it is still well-directed. The script is also well-written especially the confrontation between Irons and Richardson. The latter, who received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress, only really shines in that previously mentioned scene. I don't think she was better than her contemporaries Redgrave and Davis. Overall, a tense film that is well-acted and scripted which also ends on an interesting note. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Edward Guthmann San Francisco Chronicle Louis Malle's beleaguered tale of sexual obsession is a strange but satisfying hybrid of high-gloss trash and Greek tragedy. Rated: 3/4 Jan 11, 2023 Full Review David Ansen Newsweek It's to Malle and his gifted company's credit that this posh bodice-ripper often comes close to achieving its tragic ambitions. But the stylish Damage is a lot easier to enjoy if one doesn't feel compelled to take it seriously. May 22, 2018 Full Review Owen Gleiberman Entertainment Weekly Rated: A- Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Joe Lipsett Bloody Disgusting The iconic final image...is sheer perfection. It’s a symbol of everything that he [Stephen] had and lost; an empty bit of nostalgia epitomizing the three lives he ruined. Rated: 4/5 May 31, 2023 Full Review Steve Warren Southern Voice (Atlanta) The acting is excellent and Damage is no tease; it's an intelligent, well made erotic drama. May 9, 2023 Full Review Vanessa Letts The Spectator The worst thing about Damages is David Hare's screenplay. It is constructed mostly out of embarrassingly meaningful looks.
