…there are the kind of big, epic moments that you’d expect from the mid 70’s end-of-the-world blockbuster, but there’s also absolutely cringe special effects and one of the most underwhelming endings in cinema…. Go to Full Review

What really sinks this film is the lackluster direction... and script. Go to Full Review

Slow moving, with cheesy visual effects and some nasty B-movie trappings. But the story and setting are both dreary and fascinating. And performances are top notch. Go to Full Review

Aze D 10/21/2024 This is a classic 70's B-movie. Sure, it has some standard post apocalyptic tropes and plot gaps but it also has some interesting concepts. The killer cockroaches that only eat organic material and the cool roadmaster vehicle make it worth a watch. See more NiB Y 09/17/2024 A campy and fun Sci-Fi & Dystopic superproduction. It ends abruptly and the characters are quite... stupid; but it's a solid visual effects wonder with a nice story. See more Jeff P 01/02/2024 I remember this movie when I was a kid. Great entertainment at the time. Knowing the cast members from TV shows such as the A-Team and Air Wolf doesn't hurt. It is cheesy, but I still love it. I just read that George Lucas worked with Alan Ladd, Studio Chief, and took a 1/4 of the production money from this film to make Star Wars. This explains a lot and probably was for the best. I wouldn't have changed a thing. I was only going to give it four stars till I read this. Five Stars and why not. The movie Damnation Alley was regarded as being the movie which was more likely to be successful, and thus received a larger budget and a bigger actor - George Peppard. It was a post-apocalyptic movie set after a nuclear war had tipped the earth off its axis and some soldiers go on a road trip in a unique vehicle called the Landmaster. Regrettably the movie sucks ass, but they inserted as much footage of the Landmaster trundling along the landscape as they could. The truck is very cool; they actually built this incredible thing and it performed very well. The movie essentially became truck porn. The other movie 20th Century Fox was working on was Star Wars.
