Audience Member One year after 1978's "Drunken Master" Yuen Woo-Ping came back with this. It's not funny and it doesn't have Jackie Chan. There's lots of slow fighting and acrobatic moves, which makes it "a must-see for old school fans" according to Mike Pollard. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Director Yuen Woo-Ping Follows Up The Success Of His Jackie Chan Powered Film, "Drunken Master", With This Almost Equally Well Made Kung Fu Flick. We Now Follow Sam Seed, As He Teaches His Adopted Son The Style Of The Eight Drunken Gods. When He Is Tracked Down By A Master Known As Rubber Legs, Who Happens To Be The Master Of Drunken Boxing In The North With His Style, The Drunken Mantis. Very Similar To The Previous Film But Not Nearly As Entertaining As The Original. Most Of The Cast From The Original Return, Notably Yuen Siu-Tin (Sam Seed) & Hwang Jang Lee (Rubber Legs, & Villain From "Drunken Master"). Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Siu Tien Yuen returns as Sam Seed aka Beggar So, from Drunken Master. When he returns home from his travels, he discovers his wife adopted a young man to be their son, much to his chagrin. A very good story of fatherhood is presented in this martial arts movie. Because he is weak, So's son Foggy runs away from home. He discovers a master of Northern Drunken Fist is looking for his father, and so begins the ultimate battle of styles. A teahouse duel between Siu Tien Yuen and Hwang Jang Lee is excellent. It's dizzying and hard to keep track of, and definitely inspired the chopstick duel from Kung Fu Panda and final climax of Kill Bill Vol 2. With a solid cast and always reliable Hwang Jang Lee, (in his best opening scene ever) Dance of the Drunken Master is a fun and entertaining movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member I LOVE SIMON YUEN SR. RIP Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Again, l don't care a whole lot for beggar or drunken kung fu, but Hwang Jang will make any movie good. Rubber Legs, ha. What a silly name for such a malignant character. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
