Marcia (Audrey Reid) has a tough life in Kingston, Jamaica, where she's the sole provider for her teenage daughter, Tanya (Mark Danvers). Her business as a street vendor is threatened by thug Priest (Pauline Stone-Myrie), and Marcia makes matters worse when she accepts money from Larry (Paul Campbell), who has eyes for her daughter. To get out of her problems, Marcia devises a plan that involves entering a dance contest in disguise, winning the top prize and pitting both men against each other.

The joyful sensuality of the soundtrack and dancers is irresistible, the thin-ish characters are comic or villainous but winning, and the no-frills borderline crudity fits and intensifies the whole.

I hate reggae music, so I should have known better than to even attempt watching this, but the synopsis made it sound interesting so I figured I'd give it a shot. Turned out I watched less than ten minutes of it because the dialogue is impossible to understand and there are no subtitles. Don't waste your time.
