Joe Leydon Variety By turns viscerally exciting and predictably formulaic - and, quite often, both at once - "Danger Close" is an efficiently crafted and consistently involving old-school war movie propelled by matter-of-fact professionalism on both sides of the cameras. Nov 8, 2019 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Anyone interested in the complexities and controversies surrounding Australia and New Zealand's involvement in Vietnam may find "Danger Close" disappointing. But the movie actually works OK as one long fight scene. Nov 8, 2019 Full Review David Stratton The Australian Stenders and cinematographer Ben Nott stage the battle scenes with impressive hyper-realism, and editor Veronika Jenet's work is, once again, outstanding. Made on location in Queensland, the film feels thoroughly authentic. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 9, 2019 Full Review Steve Morrissey Radio Times Put it down to the fog of war if you're feeling generous, but either way this is a heartfelt and, at times, gruesome reminder of an often overlooked chapter in history. Rated: 3/5 Sep 13, 2024 Full Review Kevin Wight The Wee Review That lingering whiff of unquestioning patriotism is an ugly scratch on its shiny livery but for relentless, meat-and-potatoes action you could do a whole lot worse. Rated: 3 May 2, 2020 Full Review Adam Sweeting The Arts Desk Danger Close fends off sentimentality with a pacy narrative which keeps the action sequences fierce and involving. Sardauker L After i have seen the movie i checked on Wikipedia: the movie was done in Queensland, Austraila in woods completely different from monsonic jungle. So "well done" by the actors, but "crap" for the location. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Meghan D I don't normally bother with movie reviews but this particular movie is a must-see for anyone interested in seeing the reality of battles fought in Vietnam. I had to put in my two cents on this one as I think the current rating scores are drastically lower than the experience that is watching this film deserves. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Rory W Very perspective and graphic film of the Vietnam war. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/23/24 Full Review Bloodystumps ! Action packed from beginning to end. The movie brought you into the battle from the beginning enabling me to relate to the decisions and action. Well worth watching as I am a history buff surrounding strategic battles such as this one. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/12/23 Full Review Lanfranco C The Diggers fought in the Vietnam war too, and on the right side! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/31/23 Full Review Grace W If you want to watch a possibly somewhat realistic representation of this battle including periods of boredom interspaced with intense repetitive gunfire, colloquial small talk and a chaotic yet meandering plot, it's fine and likely accurate to how it felt when it happened. However it doesn't make for good viewing. This movie like many Australian productions suffers from multiple high school drama student errors from failing to do a proper editors cut and remove many overproduced scenes that add nothing to the story except runtime, to filming in an obviously non-authentic location where they rely on rain and fog machines to try and cover up the vastly different vegetation. Great potential, poor execution. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
