An attempt to kidnap undercover intelligence agent Jane Graystone (Nancy Coleman) goes awry when the cab she is in crashes, leaving her with temporary amnesia. At the hospital, where she's attended to by Dr. Lewis (John Garfield), a Mr. Goodwin (Moroni Olsen) claims to be Jane's father, but her memory returns, and she tells Lewis that she's in danger. When spy ring leader Dr. Ingersoll (Raymond Massey) insists on taking Jane to Goodwin's home, Lewis accompanies her into a nightmare of terror.
