Attorney Matt Murdock (Ben Affleck) is blind, but his other four senses function with superhuman sharpness. By day, Murdock represents the downtrodden. At night, he is Daredevil, a masked vigilante, a relentless avenger of justice. When Wilson Fisk (Michael Clarke Duncan) hires Bullseye (Colin Farrell) to kill Daredevil, Murdock must rely on his own senses and search out the conspirators against justice -- which may include his own girlfriend, Elektra (Jennifer Garner).

Critics Consensus

While Ben Affleck fits the role and the story is sporadically interesting, Daredevil is ultimately a dull, brooding origin story that fails to bring anything new to the genre.

Namrata Joshi Outlook Daredevil has a brooding dark and dank air about it, much like Batman. That's about the only element that lends the movie any character. Rated: 1/4 Jan 4, 2019 Full Review Alexander Walker London Evening Standard From start to finish, the film is death-ridden and employs overamplified sound to pump up its many pornographic images. Dec 14, 2017 Full Review Joe Morgenstern Wall Street Journal It isn't a great film, or even a greatly original one. Still, it has many grace notes, and interesting oddities. Jul 14, 2015 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Worst of all is the finale, which features a protracted duel with villain Bullseye, utilizing copious amounts of bad CG that cheapens the choreography and any potential for a satisfying demise. Rated: 3/10 Sep 25, 2025 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand ... a strange, sometimes maddening movie. It’s shot with a hyperactive camera that jitters like the Flash on a dozen cups of espresso and written as if the actors were speaking the archly pulp dialogue balloons of a real comic book ... Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn This was brutal to get through...I was in an utter state of confusion during the entire film. Rated: 1/5 Jul 24, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Leaburn O Better than pretty much every marvel film since they turned the franchise into a lame teen jokes theme. Ok so it’s still not great, has the thinnest of plots and little to get excited about. At least it has a reasonable origin story and the fight scenes aren’t too long to labour through. In fact the relatively short runtime for a superhero film is a true blessing. Could have been a lot worse. Watched it on DVD. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/04/25 Full Review David b Ben Affleck Is single handed the worst superhero actor ever he completed ruined the character of dare devil Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/27/25 Full Review matt m i like the gadgets that he has cuz charlie cox version doesn’t have those that i would associate with the character and the double d logo was nice to see but it was a bad movie the show is MUCH better Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/19/25 Full Review Renaldo D Too boring. But once a movie of the character Hellboy that doesn't work. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/25/25 Full Review Mitch B I love teh scene where Daredevil is about to kill Kingpin but decides not to. Great scene. This movie deserves more love. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/01/25 Full Review Eye C Just to complete the whole Marvel Legacy movies, but it’s not the best representation of the Daredevil.
