Attorney Matt Murdock (Ben Affleck) is blind, but his other four senses function with superhuman sharpness. By day, Murdock represents the downtrodden. At night, he is Daredevil, a masked vigilante, a relentless avenger of justice. Daredevil is a mediocre Marvel film that has some good ideas but never fully comes together. Ben Affleck does his best in the title role, and there are moments where the darker tone and character setup feel promising. Michael Clarke Duncan also gives the film some weight as Kingpin, and the cast is one of the movie’s stronger points. Even so, the movie feels uneven and underdeveloped. The story moves in a pretty generic way, the pacing can drag, and some of the action does not leave much impact. It tries to be brooding and serious, but it ends up feeling more flat than intense. There is potential here, but it is not used very well. Overall, Daredevil is a forgettable superhero movie that has a few solid elements but not enough to stand out. I would rate it a 4/10.

How can you not get some enjoyment out of this movie?! I know that in most people's opinion this movie is way out done by the Netflix Daredevil and Daredevil: Born Again, but just because this movie eventually becomes surpassed doesn't mean it's bad! I think there are a lot of things this movie does right! Firstly, I enjoy the dark, gritty, moody feeling of the movie. All the dreary night city scenes and the dark color gradient makes the movie all feel dark and like a total mood. I also think the 2000s Rock soundtrack helps create the moody feeling. I also think the cast is great. I thought that Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Colin Farrell, and Michael Clarke Duncan all give great performances as their characters. But the best part of this movie is the action scenes. Every fight (Matt meeting Elektra, The fight at the church, the final fight between Daredevil and Kingpin, etc.) was well choreographed, fluid, and fun to watch. Overall, if you turn off your brain, this movie is really fun
