Audience Member I was expecting a thriller. Instead, it was a boring, slow-paced movie about a neurotic woman's reactions to being alone. It should never have been described as a suspense thriller because there was virtually nothing in it that was remotely suspenseful. This was at best a character study. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review amanda g It's not easy for any actor to carry a film that relies heavily on solo scenes and the constant interplay burgeoning emotion, but Whitney Able gives a stellar performance as the film's heroine, Kate. The young woman is as talented as she is lovely, bearing a striking resemblance to a young Debbie Harry and able to ease her look from sexpot to crackpot in the blink of an eye. While many films in the psychological horror genre attempt to showcase the slow mental unraveling of their protagonist, few knock it out of the park in the same manner as Able, who manages to drag her character believably through every emotion and every stage of a manic depressive episode. Kate's breakdown is slow, poignant, and terrifying. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member 271. Dark. Here is the synopsis for this movie: During a city blackout, a lonely and distraught woman becomes increasingly convinced someone is in her building. Or possibly in her apartment. False. The reality is: Kate seems to be unhappy in her relationship with Leah. Yes, there is a city wide blackout, based on reality in fact. Yes, I'd say she's pretty convinced someone is in her building, they are called neighbors. It wasn't a possibility that someone was in her apartment, it was fact. Kate's neighbor John walked into her place drunk, thinking it was his place, realizes his mistake, takes a piss and goes home. Does Kate stay home lonely and distraught? Um, no, she gets all dressed up and goes to a bar and picks up a dude. Sure some paranoia sets in after she smokes a marijuana cigarette, but she's really never in any danger except from maybe herself. It's actually a decent movie, just the description is way off... More psychological character study with thriller elements than horror. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Dark, a by-the-numbers thriller of sorts, isn't dark enough.
