Leslie Felperin Guardian The dialogue is a bit stilted sometimes, and, once all the wrapping is off, the big reveal is slightly silly, but this rare instance of a western-style horror film set in India is an intriguing, largely inventive genre exercise. Rated: 3/5 Oct 17, 2019 Full Review Kimber Myers Los Angeles Times Darkness Visible is disjointed and drags out for far too long, but it features some effectively creepy visuals. Audience Member I have been more scared and hidden behind the sofa watching Boris & Trump try to tell the truth, do not watch as you will never get that 90 mins back. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member At one point i thought i would never watch another indian movie again after a few recomended bollywood flicks i decided i didnt like them at all then i stumbled across tumbbad quite by accident and loved it a very refreshing break from the ridiculous bs that is hollywood horror with america putting out pure garbage almost weekly it was a nice change to see a thinking mans thriller. So that brings me to darkness visible, with all my favorite things mixed in a bag and served piping hot. witchcraft, demons, young people who actually seem to have brains in their skulls, great dark atmosphere within indian slums at night and backround music that just eminates dread and foreboding while still seeming somewhat enchanting or enticing all told darkness visible is a great movie and i would recomend it to anyone who actually likes their movies with a bit more then jump scares or zombies and maniacs running around killing for no reason at all. Hope 2 see more like this one Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Darkness Visible uniquely embeds both murder-mystery and paranormal genres into its Indian influenced storyline, which really captured my attention. Unlike many other horror movies I have seen, this one developed a puzzling story that had me intensely trying to unravel the mystery throughout its duration. I highly suggest this film because while maintaining incredibly creepy, it truly grasped my focus. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Darkness Visible did a fantastic job of adding something new to the supernatural horror/thriller genre. I feel like so many movies that come out of the genre just feel like the same thing retold a hundred times over. However, Darkness Visible does something fresh and unfamiliar by bringing the story to India, which works out very well in its favor. The antagonist in the movie, an evil Indian witch named Rhakee, was something that felt original to me and made it all the creepier and more convincing. I had a great time watching this movie and really enjoyed the progression of the story and its scares. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member There are two types of horror films-- ones that are just there for a scare, or ones that can be used to comment on society. Darkness Visible proves there is a middle ground between these binaries. While the movie can be viewed as any other surface-level scary movie, you can also read into how the movie provides social commentary for the world we live in. Darkness Visibleis definitely what you make of it and is versatile enough to where it can be viewed as a Friday Night Horror piece or one where you dig a little deeper for meaning. You choose. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is creepy and spine-chilling. Ronnie, a man from London, travels to India after his mother suddenly ends up in a hospital there. When Ronnieï¿ 1/2(TM)s mother dies, strange things begin to happen to him. Most of Ronnieï¿ 1/2(TM)s time in India is spent investigating a series of mysteriously similar murders. I usually donï¿ 1/2(TM)t like horror films, but this one was really good. Most horror films scare me; however, I found this film less scary and more interesting. Highly recommend!
