Peter Rainer FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It kind of drifts away. Sep 10, 2021 Full Review Nick Schager Variety Despite a number of self-conscious touches that suggest an innovative approach to familiar material, winds up playing a rote lovey-dovey game. Sep 10, 2021 Full Review Sheila O'Malley RogerEbert.com Dating & New York has the 'comedy' part of the equation but not the 'romantic.' Rated: 2/4 Sep 10, 2021 Full Review Jillian Chilingerian Offscreen With Jillian What makes the film enjoyable is how it is set up as some kind of escape fantasy but dips into the reality of dating and relationships. Jul 26, 2023 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Dating & New York is proof that the only thing worse than a dull and unoriginal romantic comedy is a dull and unoriginal romantic comedy that thinks it's exciting and creative. This annoying movie reeks of smugness. Sep 24, 2021 Full Review Lisa Trifone Third Coast Review ... a central couple so charming they're endlessly watchable make the film something quite modern, enjoyable and sweet, if not always profound or terribly deep. sam m Charming and indie and cute Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Jeremy M What a fun and fantastic modern rom com!! Can't wait to watch again now that it's on streaming. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review David F This is the only film about dating in New York that I have ever actually liked. It's super-smart, original, and funny as hell. It's As a New Yorker who went through a f***load of dating, I can attest to the accuracy of a lot of what was portrayed. By the end of the movie, I was having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that I had actually enjoyed a romantic comedy. The script was seriously well-put-together, the characters were very likeable, and the whole vibe was endearingly weird. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/30/22 Full Review Audience Member If you lived in New York City in your 20s you will love this movie.
