Clare Martin Paste Magazine Spade shoehorns in topical references in order to appear relevant, but the end result feels more like a search and replace operation gone awry. Rated: 6/10 Apr 29, 2022 Full Review Sean L. McCarthy Decider The jokes breeze past, most of them forgettable once you’ve closed out the credits... Of course, sometimes that’s all you want out of a comedy special. Some light titters. Apr 29, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Annabelle H Nope. Not good - was he even trying? I just dedicated my evening to a 50 year old guy making jokes about porn, flaccid penises and pubic hair. The show started out interesting. He was joking about the pandemic which, even if it wasn't side-splitting funny, was an interesting take on pretty recent events. But not long after that he was making tired jokes straight out of the 1980s. I don't know if he's lazy or just lacks talent but don't waste your time. [For the record, I've read his book and listen to his podcast. I was really looking forward to this special. So I guess the joke's on me.] Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/28/23 Full Review SpontaneousWeasel While spade still has bags of charisma in his delivery, the material was poor with his collection of out of touch 'rich Hollywood guy' isms. Feels like a vapid performance. The dude needs to run his material through the club circuit to tighten it more next time. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/04/23 Full Review Audience Member I seriously needed that. that was so refreshing. not that I don't like other comedy/comedians but I could relate to a lot of his content. being in my forties, unmarried with no kids it was really nice to hear his material. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/11/22 Full Review ari v Closer a little weak, but most of it is hilarious. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Ken W Very disappointing. Felt like Spade spent a week tightening up his act. A few good jokes that he's repeated on talk shows many times. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/10/22 Full Review scott w My wife and I saw David Spade in Atlanta on April 1 (no joke), and he crushed it. A lot of the material was the same as what's in this special, but so what? The audience loved him then, and I thought he was great in this show. He does not pander to the politically correct audience -- good -- and he's just straight up funny. We've lost too many of the great, "experienced" comedians in the last year or two. Spade has a style of joke telling and choice of content that is authentic to who he is. Long live David Spade! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
