Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) The dialogue is so hackneyed that the public chants the answer before the actor can even finish the question. [Full review in Spanish] Aug 16, 2023 Full Review Anthony Arrigo Dread Central While I tend to enjoy Girdler's work, this is one of his lesser efforts, with the only true entertainment coming from Leslie Nielsen's unhinged character. The animal attack scenes aren't very convincing and with not much of a story... Rated: 3.3/5 Aug 16, 2021 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Leslie Nielsen is a riot as the loathsome ad exec whose heretofore repressed alpha male explodes in a rage of macho manly manliness. What's not to like about a movie where a macho, bare-chested Leslie Nielsen literally tries to fight a grizzly bear? Rated: 3/5 Oct 21, 2005 Full Review Read all reviews

Chad G Okay, the plot here is ridiculous, but it somehow works. Animals above a certain elevation turn violent due to the depletion of the ozone brought on by the excessive use of aerosols. It really is a hidden gem in thd animals-gone-wild subgenre if horror. While it doesn't offer anythingground breaking, the film is an enjoyable campy experience. Set in a world where ultraviolet radiation is causing animals at higher elevations to go psychotic, a group of hikers come under attack from various species while in the mountains. Some of the suspenseful sequences and animal attacks are done very well, and the setting in the wilderness really enhances the feelings of isolation and vulnerability. There are surprisingly several notable actors in this, like Christopher George and Leslie Nielsen, and the film benefits from having them, particularly Nielsen, who gives a truly psychotic performance. However, the movie goes all in on the campiness, which may not may not be for everyone. Also, it is full of cheesy dialogue, poor effects, and some over-the-top acting. It also is lacking in character development at times. Regardless, Day of the Animals is sure to be an entertaining watch for any fan of 1970s creature features. The unique way it blames ozone depletion, brought on by excessive aerosol use, for the animals attacking feels somewhat new, making it more than a simple animal rampage flick. If you're looking for a fun, campy horror film that doesn't take itself too seriously, this film is for you. Everyone needs to see Leslie Nielsen shirtless declaring war on God at least once in their life. The animal attack scenes aren't very convincing and with not much of a story there isn't much to go on here. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is definitely not a horror film for horror fans. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/11/22 Full Review joe m Absolutely devastating - in its total unbelievable plot and over the top ridiculousness!!! "Day of the Animals" stands out for one of those movies that is so bad it's good. And the most tour de force performance in this dog of a film goes to Leslie Nielsen as the know-it-all advertising executive who is 'transformed' by his experience with nature. You have to see this to believe it was actually made! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Leslie Nielsen playing a bombastic racist? Surely you must be kidding! Sadly, I'm not, and don't call me hot shot, kemo sahbee. The movie is so poorly put together and so casually offensive, it would make even the most humane critic go "woof"---which I guess means that every dog doesn't have its day. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a movie that I cant help but laugh at because of how poor it is. At least Leslie Nielsen gave a decent performance.
