Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Rated: 2/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Rex Reed Observer For a hot-button issue movie with a lot of potential for character development, it's slower than Christmas and disappointingly sluggish. Jan 23, 2008 Full Review Katey Rich Film Journal International Presents characters as concepts rather than actual people, and deals much more with the theoretical consequences of war rather than the actual human toll. Jan 22, 2008 Full Review Austin Kennedy Sin Magazine It's not a groundbreaking film, but I liked the gritty feel of it. It's a small, little movie that manages to be thought provoking enough for me to recommend it. Rated: 3/4 Jul 22, 2008 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...an engaging little drama that benefits from the stellar performances of its various actors. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 5, 2008 Full Review Norm Schrager Filmcritic.com no one will mistake this earnest try for Medium Cool. Maybe just Smallish Cool. Audience Member Hmmm, so the characters are pretty awful, the dialogue is pretty mediocre, and the cinematography is meh and I ended up watching it at 1.5x speed for the last half because I was getting seriously bored. Also, the concept itself is ludicrous, the US bringing back the draft would be the most politically unpopular action in US government history and would be met with riots and huge public outrage. What is the supposed twist that people are talking about? Nothing surprising or interesting happened in this movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Shane Walsh is Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead but Jon Bernthal is really a Shane Walsh in every movies! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member gripping look at life in America if the Draft were to return and a modern day retelling of what the Draft must of been like for those in the 60's and early 70's. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Best movie ever! Jon did great in this one! Best movie he ever did beside snitch and the walking dead! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a pre-release version of the movie that is well put together. Americans live in a free society until their dorky leaders need them and then it's just as communist as any other country. Script is tight and philosophical so be prepared to think and think again. Sharp mental anguish comes across well as the men take note of what they may face. No women chosen alas. Nibbles: Apple. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member military drafts--(fights,ilove u, distance, isolation, suicide..)it affects ipeople.it could be better.
