Audience Member They had a nice thing goin' here, then it derailed when the two dumb guys are brought into the picture, they head off to Vegas by way of San Juan Bautista, and they're robbed. Yeah, it was good to see Yea-Ming again, but that could've easily happened without Mike and the fourth-rate Dennis Hopper ripoff guy. Goh Nakamura is a wonderful presence on the screen. As are Yea-Ming and Lynn Chen, and Ayako Fujitani. This is making the most of a independent-type budget. Love the black-and-white cinematography. Nakamura's anst and frustration seems genuine. Fujitani's Erika is convincing as the girlfriend who has cut the cord, unexpectedly. And Yea-Ming brings it as the possible new love interest who isn't interested in just being a rebound. That's what writer/director Boyle should've stuck with. That's the gold in this here hill of screenwriting. Now back to the 'sequel' of sorts that Lynn Chen made. 2.7 stars Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review spencer p While it's still a bit on the unnecessarily quiet side, this is a more character-focused entry in the "Surrogate Valentine" trilogy.
