Craig B It was okay. Suitably silly and gory with lashings of ordinary acting...even from the lovely Lauren Holly. Sitting on the fence if this is worth watching...it's less than 90 minutes so if nothing better to do.... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/04/23 Full Review Liam D A unique take on the zombie genre that is both hilarious and gore filled Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/25/22 Full Review lurking f Fellow Creatures! A recent re-watch for me & a fun & freaky weekend watch recommendation is 2017's "Dead Shack". This small budget, Canadian, comedy/horror, directed & co-written by Peter Ricq, it sees three working class teens go on a crappy cabin holiday with two of the kids Dad & his new, whiny girlfriend, only to discover that the pretty lady neighbour (Lauren Holly) in the cabin across the way is luring victims back to home to feed them to her zombie family & they may be next on the menu, now that they've discovered her deadly secret. Think "The Goonies" meets "The Hills Have Eyes", but with more inventive cursing & you're pretty much there. The young cast acquit themselves with very snarky, sweary insults, decent comic timing & when the blood hits the fan, they're good at being terrified, but tenacious too when fighting back. A special shout-out goes to Donavon Stinson, who brilliantly plays Roger, the Dad, whose stoned, irresponsible, half-assed, but loving approach to Fatherhood is somewhat to be desired, but he almost steals the entire movie. Dark, gruesome, funny, despite the odd plot hole, (How did her family become Zombies in the first place?), this is an easy watch after a busy week & there's plenty of fun moments alongside the flesh-munching. Daft, but definitely decent for a quiet, apart from the screaming, night in. Shed Of The Dead Grimly.💀💀 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Mało treściwy, jakby był tylko pierwszym odcinkiem jakiegoś serialu. Główny bohater to denerwujący, nieporadny lamus Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie wanna be comedy but It Not Can't and Can't Make me scary it Just a movie with Low Brain cell Character Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member meh; this was fine. some parts were funny but i didn't laugh enough for me to like it as a comedy & i wasn't scared enough to like it as a scary movie either. Joey Keogh Wicked Horror More comedy than horror, but entertaining enough it doesn't really matter. Rated: 6/10 Oct 1, 2019 Full Review Matt Donato Slashfilm A genre film that knows how to have fun while splattering a few heads in the process? You have my attention. Rated: 7/10 May 27, 2019 Full Review Andrew Wyatt The Lens Despite its many problems, a distinctly Canadian sensibility of dopey, gross-out fun manages to rise to the surface of this teens vs. zombies curio. Rated: C Dec 7, 2018 Full Review Patrick Bromley Daily Dead The pieces don't always fit, the jokes sometimes miss their mark, the horror elements can be clumsy, but the film holds together on the basis of charm. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 2, 2018 Full Review Joe Lipsett Queer.Horror.Movies. Canadian zom com Dead Shack is refreshingly small scale, with great comedic timing and relatable characters. It's a great, entertaining little film Sep 21, 2018 Full Review Kat Hughes THN Best viewed late at night in the company of friends and alcohol, Dead Shack, is a bonkers, bloody and fun horror comedy.
