Tom L Jun 6 Fantastic movie that manages to successfully meld comedy with grim horror, something that is exceedingly difficult to do and very rare. The characters are despicable yet lovable, the dialogue is pitch perfect, and the Evil Dead homages are effective even while being obvious. Despite using well-worn zombie and psycho cabin in the woods tropes, the film makers add imaginative and fresh ideas into the mix. While the origin story of the undead is never explained, this wasn’t distracting from the story and the action. There is even a touch of melancholy at the end that tempers the humor and zaniness of much of the rest of the movie, and keeps things from ending on a trivial note.
