Ernest Borgnine delivers a typically hammy, Razzie Award-nominated performance as a fire-and-brimstone sort prone to making declarations like “You are a stench in the nostrils of God!” Go to Full Review

A questionable Wes Craven film is still more fun than many filmmakers at their best. This chaotic movie is unforgettable due to some big swings that (for the most part) work. Go to Full Review
Phil Edwards Starburst 07/28/2022
Deadly Blessing is no masterpiece to be sure, but it does make for an entertaining old fashioned horror movie, and amidst the welter of slash and stalk gore, this is welcome indeed. Go to Full Review

this is lurid stuff, and probably all the better for the fetid, no-holds-barred atmosphere. Go to Full Review

On paper, a slasher-thriller with supernatural overtones, Deadly Blessing is instead a series of loosely connected parts. Go to Full Review

One of Wes Craven's best films, an oddball but often scary thriller mixing elements from religious, slasher, snake, spider and monster flicks Go to Full Review

RedApple A Oct 8 "I believe this is Craven's most personal film, and also one of the best-looking in his career. Its star-studded cast and these factors can almost make you forget how weak the ending is. It's not his best—but think about it: if this film didn’t exist, would we have ever gotten to see his best ones?" See more KEVIN C 11/20/2022 Out in the country a woman's husband mysteriously is killed in their barn. Their property very close to a strict Amish community that the victim was ostracized from. Wes Craven directs this creepy mostly due to Ernest Borgnine's Amish beard horror/mystery. Maren Jensen plays the lead supported by a young Sharon Stone, Jeff East, Lisa Hartman and Michael Berryman. Fun watchable eighties horror from the master of the genre. See more daniel l 05/21/2022 The most of the movie is entertaining and it has good suspense. But the movie fell apart in the last 20 seconds (the ending). I am not sure why they used that ending, it didn't fit the movie at all. Otherwise the movie is actually not bad. See more 02/04/2022 Craven hadn’t quite hit his stride with this preposterous story that’s uneven in style, tone, & pacing and goes absolute bat-sh*t in the third act. The music is full-lactose cheese & Borgnine is a decaf Brother Theodore. #nitrosMovieChallenge See more Damian L 08/15/2021 It was okay for a Wes Craven film See more Read all reviews
