jon c Based on the true story of African stowaways enduring the hardest trip overseas Hoping to find a better life, dockworker Kingsley Ofasa and eight other Ghanaian refugees stow away on a Ukrainian cargo ship headed for the United States via France The ship's sailors discover the refugees when they search for water Because of an earlier fine violation in New York City, the captain tells the crew that they would be responsible The crew then decides to take action to avoid anymore penalties by murdering the stowaways, who must fight to stay alive until docking in France It's extremely short but intense and scary The fact they dispose of these poor souls hiding aboard is unbearable The captain and their crew were sentenced to 20 years in prison for murder in December 1995 The only survivor was Kingsley He made it to France with his wife and child but suffered the loss of his brother and fellow refugees Omar Epps is truly convincing as this refugee just wanting a better life for his family, you truly feel the desperation and hope he's clinging onto For an HBO TV movie it's good, nothing too grand but feels very raw Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Saw this movie on late night HBO.
