Critics Consensus

Proof that there's still life in the found-footage gimmick, Deadstream is a scarily good bit of B-movie fun.

Isaac Feldberg RogerEbert.com It's hard not to begrudgingly admire a film as committed to its deliriously silly bit as Deadstream. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 6, 2022 Full Review Leslie Felperin Guardian This comic horror romp has no pretensions and seeks only to goof around and dole out a few jump scares, but in its own sly way it offers a Gen Z version of The Blair Witch Project. Rated: 3/5 Oct 5, 2022 Full Review Steven Nguyen Scaife Slant Magazine The film doesn’t quite live up to its promising premise and handful of clever camera gimmicks. Rated: 2/4 Oct 3, 2022 Full Review Brittany Patrice Witherspoon Pop Culture Reviews With an ending as unsatisfying as the one they went with in this feature, I’d say Deadstream is an overall disappointment. Rated: 2/5 Jul 22, 2024 Full Review Ygraine Hackett-Cantabrana Ghouls Magazine Deadstream is a fun and light-hearted horror that utilises found footage expertly, bringing the medium into the social media era in an extremely believable way. Rated: 5/5 Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Bee Delores B-Sides & Badlands Very few found footage films delicately balance between humor and horror with such precision like Deadstream. It is this year’s Host — a bonafide blockbuster that’s able to send chills down your spine one moment and make you bust out laughing the next. Rated: 5/5 Jul 3, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Steve K If you are looking for a true horror movie this isn’t for you. This has become my favorite comedy horror of all time! I laughed through out! The main actor did a great job, selling a real life YouTuber in this situation! Great movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/08/24 Full Review Alexander B Some really cool looking creatures/ghost. Not really scary. Totally went for an Evil dead silly but gross over the top aspect. The Lead actor annoyed me. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review Yash B I watched "Deadstream" with a group of friends, and I think that is the optimal way to watch a movie like this. The movie feels inspired by other found footage horror, but does enough to make its own and delivers a fun ride. Once the first jump scare in the movie happens, it is pretty nonstop and entertaining. I don't usually gravitate to this type of horror, but I can appreciate how it does a lot with very little, and enjoyed all of the jolts and scares I got to experience in a group setting. Overall, it is an impressive little indie horror movie that genre fans can certainly enjoy and appreciate. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/24 Full Review Craig B Overall a pretty entertaining twist on ‘found footage’, in this case a live stream of an internet prankster staying in a haunted house for a night. Some very creepy moments, decent acting given the concept, which moves along at a good pace with a few good jump scares. I’m bot normally into these kinds of horror movies but this one kept me intrigued for the duration, so I would say this is definitely worth checking out. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/24 Full Review Douglas S Equal parts terrifying and hilarious. Loved this movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Brian G I have become quite skeptical anytime I turn on a horror movie and find it to be "found footage", but this one has a nice creative twist and turned out to be a lot of fun. It starts off with a creepy vibe, as the protagonist plans to spend a night in a haunted house for a live-stream. It eventually spins wildly into a VERY Sam Rami-esque horror show, that swings back and forth from funny to disgusting. The horror makeup effects are quite weak, and betray an obviously limited budget. And the main character is intentionally annoying, and could potentially get on a person's nerves. However, if you are along for the ride with him, it was a really fun found-footage bonkers horror. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/08/24 Full Review Read all reviews
