Rami A The first one was good at being a standalone film. The sequel, on the other hand, is just the first film, but worse. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/26/24 Full Review matthias s "Death Wish 2" might have Charles Bronson reprising his iconic role as Paul Kersey, but this sequel doesn't quite live up to its predecessor. Bronson, known for his stoic tough guy image, delivers the expected vigilante justice, but when it comes to emotional scenes, he falls short. It's hard to become emotionally invested in the story when the main character can't convincingly convey his emotions. While the original "Death Wish" was a gritty and impactful thriller, this sequel feels like a mere rehash with a thinner plot. It lacks the depth and resonance of the first film, leaving you yearning for a more engaging narrative. However, "Death Wish 2" does have its redeeming qualities. The action scenes are undeniably thrilling, and Bronson's no-nonsense approach to dealing with criminals still holds some appeal. If you're in it purely for the action, you won't be disappointed. In the end, "Death Wish 2" is a middling sequel that fails to capture the magic of the original. It's worth a watch for die-hard Bronson fans and action enthusiasts, but don't expect it to reach the heights of its predecessor. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review Blu B The music is half decent but other times very forgettable. The acting is ok enough. The villains are just cannon fodder more than anything and aren't even one dimensional. Paul doesn't really have any character devlopment or anyone else really. Everything else about it is just subpar. It follows the same beats as the first one with the same problems. There isn't much of a climax in this one either and it feels like once his daughter is killed stuff just happens with no real flow only in the loosest sense. The camerawork and framing is as good as the first but so many action scenes are so over the top and ridiculous constantly. The car going over the cliff, his daughters death, the end fight in the mental hospital, it's all so farfecthed and the film loses that sense of grittiness and reality the first had for entertaining kills. This doesn't expand anything the first did or do anything better. It tries to ham in the same underlying commentary but it just doesn't hit as hard. It does retain that exploitation feel strongly that the first had though. I can understand someone who loved the first one would probably like this because of that, but most people otherwise should skip it and stick to the first. That's basically what this anyway. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/16/23 Full Review Jelisije J I don't like sequels that copy and paste the first movie plot. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/27/23 Full Review Loren H Charles Bronson!!!!! Enough cannot be said about Charles Bronson….. I personally enjoyed all the Death Wish movie series…. Bronson is back for the second installment of this classic 70-90s series….. This is just pure entertainment…. If you haven't seen any Bronson movies. , I recommend you do.. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the action… Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Just like the first, it sets up with a dark theme and tries to justify itself. Bruce McCabe Boston Globe Once you appreciate how comically lurid Death Wish 2 is, you can relax and enjoy it for what it is. It's a Marvel Comic with someone to turn the pages for you. Apr 27, 2018 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times While the first film convinced me of Bronson's need for vengeance, this one is just a series of dumb killings.
