Once you appreciate how comically lurid Death Wish 2 is, you can relax and enjoy it for what it is. It's a Marvel Comic with someone to turn the pages for you. Go to Full Review

While the first film convinced me of Bronson's need for vengeance, this one is just a series of dumb killings. Go to Full Review

a strong, visceral experience that is not always comfortable to watch but pleasing to watch as the bad guys get what's coming to them Go to Full Review

The language is filthy, the film is simpleminded, and Bronson's character is as despicable as those he murders. Go to Full Review

nick s Sep 11 A formulaic story that's nothing more than one man's revenge on a bunch of thugs. It doesn't really have anything special to offer. Even the quality was disappointing with a lot of the dialogue dubbed over. See more Farah R @Farah May 30 Repeating the exact same plot in the sequel must be number one in what not to do in a sequel handbook. See more Kristian B Apr 9 Very entertaining and has a lot more action to it. See more Bruno V Mar 20 Brutal and disturbing, then the alter egg takes charge of alleviating the pain and disgust of the scum who don't even deserve the air they breathe. See more Wayne K Jan 18 8 whole years after landing his biggest hit with Death Wish, Charles Bronson returned for Death Wish 2, and in a series that would include 3 more films, the law of diminishing returns was already taking effect. His first film, while bloody and violent, had an obvious emotional centre, revolving around a decent man driven to extremes by the world around him. The sequel is basically a retread, just with a different family member being killed, and Kersey’s quest for vengeance unfolding in a much more perfunctory manner. I’ll give the film credit; this time Paul is actually taking revenge on the people who wronged him, not on those who simply share the same criminal occupation. The film has no arc for the characters, and no connective tissue for the plot. As much fun as it is to see a sexagenarian Charlie Bronson shoot his way through a gang of cartoonish baddies, there’s nowhere near as much emotional investment as there was before. It doesn’t help that they try to convince us that a man in his 60s could not only hold his own in a fight with someone less than half his age, but also convincingly beat him. There’s fun to be had with the killings, but when it’s over it doesn’t have much of an impact, because not enough was done to make us care about it. Its quite a step down from the original and, if the reviews are to be believed, things certainly didn’t get any better moving forward. See more Read all reviews
