Delivery: The Beast Within plays out like a fireworks display that hopes you'll only remember the grand finale, and not the preceding hour's worth of uneventful build-up material that you're forced to sit through.

...both Vail and Barclay give compelling performances. They are very convincing and sympathetic which made for an effective emotional anchor to the film. Basically I gave a crap about what happened to them.

It wasn't half bad. Good tension and build up - didn't find it boring like some others have said. Real sense of dread for what was coming. However, this must've had a microscopic budget because there was almost no kind of effects whatsoever. Just really camera work and that's about it. It's a shame because if they could've added some terrifying imagery sprinkled throughout the film through some modest SFX, that ending would've really popped. Instead it leaves you guessing at the end, and the tone and direction of the movie didn't really lend itself towards this type of ambiguous ending. You know what's really happening, but the lack of visceral background, hollows out the ending in a way that I don't think services the movie.

Appeared staged. Not even grade B acting, grade D. Makeup poorly done at crying scene , too much rouge around corner of eyes. periorbital redness effect NOT realistic .. Didn't finish the movie. 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

Completely underrated. For the "found footage" genre, the reality show conceit is a great one. So creepy in a "Lake Mungo" sort of way. Really enjoyed it. I think it's far superior to "Devil's Due."
