Meredith Stone (Patricia Pearcy) joins the staff of Langrock Mansion as a nurse to invalid patriarch Ivar Langrock (Joseph Cotten). There she meets Ivar's grandson Gabriel (John Dukakis), an awkward teen who has recently arrived at the estate. Though nearly twice his age, Meredith finds herself attracted to the boy. But, when the residents start getting bludgeoned to death one by one, she must regard even the alienated young man as a suspect, lest she become the next victim.
