James Mudge easternKicks.com A powerful and hard-hitting debut from Lee Seong-tae as writer and director, and a well-made, if resolutely bleak and depressing indie Rated: 4.5/5 Oct 26, 2020 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis HanCinema "Derailed" is a great film, that benefits the most from its direction, script, and acting, while the ending scene will probably haunt its audience for quite some time. Kim Ki-duk seems to have left quite a legacy in the country. Jan 8, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

jjjjjj j A less than stellar movie that is at times laughable due to its over simplicity. The action of this film is good though and the plot was engaging enough to have kept me interested throughout. The problem begins with the 4 main teens who are overly immature and at times it seems as almost a joke as to how childish they are. As criminals they are just down right terrible constantly getting beat up and taken advantage of to the point of it also being a joke in the film. Such a point that you really have to ask why are they doing any of this? On the other hand the worst character in the film is clearly suppose to be made out as just some psychotic evil guy and though I am okay with the motif at times it just goes to far and is just too unrealistic. The final of the three main characters is not a morally good character either leaving you really no one to like. Though I do hate having no good guys in this movie with the first two being so idiotic I feel like there needed to be one to bring sanity to this film. Unfortunately there was no saving grace. The unrealistic actions of the characters made it hard to gain any real emotional attachment. If they are all so willing to do such stupid things then to some level you expect anything. For this reason the "emotions" behind actions within the plot were lost on me. For hardcore action/korean movie fans this will be a film you may moderately enjoy but for the more general audiences I recommend you look in other places for entertainment.
