Neal Justin Minneapolis Star Tribune Youngsters who are ready to be introduced to the wonder of musicals would be better off discovering an old chestnut such as 1939′s "Babes in Arms." Jul 15, 2024 Full Review Kristen Maldonado Pop Culture Planet Descendants: The Rise of Red is a mixed bag. I really enjoyed this cast and the music, but there were a lot of missed opportunities and holes in the story that tied back to the writing team. Jul 12, 2024 Full Review Anna Govert Paste Magazine While the effort is certainly there, it still can’t quite reach the highs of its predecessors, instead offering a fourth installment that is lackluster in both its musical moments and overarching story. Ro M Amazing film love Chloe Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/25 Full Review Chloe H When watching this movie I didn't expect it to be AMAZING, but I expected more, the songs were alright but not that good and the ending just felt RUSHED, I expected it to go a totally different way because of what the Queen of hearts said to cinderella at the start of the movie, can't remember the exact quote but she said something about Cinderella finding the prank funny at the time and the Queen was always bringing up how love 'ain't it' so I expected Ella to go to the dance with Charming and let the prank happen, but instead Chloe and Red just take the cook book and suddenly the movie's over, it felt as if it didn't have a proper climax, the 'fight' scene in the principals office didn't feel like an actual climax, I thought the end scene was like a dream of Red's, she fell asleep after stealing the cookbook and then imagined going back but NO, IT WAS REAL!!! No explanation given as to how the VK's originally opened the book and had it not curse them which is a MASSIVE plot hole and just left me annoyed. Overall, subpar, just because you have a bigger budget doesn't help your plot, ending seemed forced Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/25 Full Review Annie L Overall it just was not a good movie. Nothing can compare to the original movies. As someone who grew up watching the Descendants movies it was extremely disappointing. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/17/25 Full Review Scarlet J I really enjoyed the first 3 Descendants so I was excited for the 4th. I knew it wouldn’t be the original cast but I still thought it would make me feel the same way the others did. It was a good plot, but there was no challenge for Red and Chloe at the end. That is why I say this movie was decent but I wouldn’t necessarily say it was awesome. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review Gape H I don’t recommend it’s NOWHERE near as close as how good the first three movies. It was really bad I don’t get how it has anything to do with the first movies. It isn’t the same since the normal actors aren’t in the movie. RIP Cameron Boyce. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/25 Full Review Tiffany L The production was fantastic, and the songs were even better, with great choreography, costumes, and impressive screen quality. However, the movie felt a bit rushed. The plot seemed scattered, and it branched off in different directions without fully coming together. By the end, it felt like something was missing—but not in an exciting, “can’t wait for part two” kind of way. While I love the bigger budget and special effects, I wish Disney had focused more on the core storyline. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/25 Full Review Read all reviews
