Neal Justin Minneapolis Star Tribune Youngsters who are ready to be introduced to the wonder of musicals would be better off discovering an old chestnut such as 1939′s "Babes in Arms." I really enjoyed this cast and the music, but there were a lot of missed opportunities and holes in the story that tied back to the writing team. James B I was very into the story at points, but ultimately the movie fell short for me. I was a fan of the first 3 movies (don’t tell my homies), and they had a magic that this movie lacked. Parts of the movie were carried by catchy songs and decently-choreographed dance numbers, but the story felt very shallow. It almost felt like a remake of Back To The Future for me (person goes back in time to undo an event, accidentally goes back too far and runs into their parents). The biggest issue that I had was it essentially retconned the entire character of the Queen of Hearts. Lewis Carroll said, “I pictured to myself the Queen of Hearts as a sort of embodiment of ungovernable passion – a blind and aimless Fury.” This movie changed all of that, by giving her a tragic backstory and a cute, positive, party girl former self. Part of the genius of Disney villains is that they are so vile, everyone has a reason to despise them. If the bad guy is likeable, I am going to find myself rooting for them in every movie, animated or not, that they are in. Plus, if the Queen was never evil in this timeline, this opens too many variations to the Disney timeline we already know. It alters many previous movies, like the original Wonderland, and the greatest Disney movie ever, Mickey’s House of Villains. Although the ending of the movie seemed to acknowledge this and set up a future movie, there will be too many storylines to address. 4/10, without the music 1/10. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/22/24 Full Review Andrea G I didn't think it was that good Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review John M I thought this movie was pretty good. Everything about it starting from the music to the plot were all good. Especially when it was about Red and Chloe fully understanding their mothers and what they had to go thru when they were younger. But I did feel like something was missing in the movie and I don't know what that is. 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/12/24 Full Review Thalys R O filme traz uma história interessante, com um roteiro bem encadeado e cenários e efeitos bem colocados. Porém, comparado com as outras sequências do descendentes, há uma falta de emoção e do que os fãs da franquia estavam acostumados: o realce da amizade e do grupo. Mesmo com essas diferenças, ainda é um bom filme para se assistir. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/03/24 Full Review Adri F I won't recommend the only thing good about it was the music and they even messed up on that Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/30/24 Full Review Giovana L O filme é legalzinho,as atuações são boas, mas em comparação com as outras sequências de descendentes, a qualidade dos efeitos visuais, músicas e enredo decaiu bastante. Nada que uma criança/pré adolescente repare muito. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews
