John DeFore Hollywood Reporter Respectably put together but inert ... Apr 3, 2017 Full Review Owen Gleiberman Variety It's the kind of dud in which the bad decisions pile up as you watch. Apr 1, 2017 Full Review Nick Schager Village Voice So tasteful it's torturous, Despite the Falling Snow is a Cold War espionage thriller for those who like their period-piece action airless and derivative. Mar 30, 2017 Full Review Paula Fleri-Soler Times of Malta The cast's commendable commitment can't hide the film's overall lack of ambition and scope. Feb 12, 2019 Full Review Matthew Bond The Mail on Sunday (UK) With the action jumping backwards and forwards in time, the plot is not always easy to follow, and a gratuitous lesbian romance does little to disguise the fact that the underlying story has run badly out of steam long before the end. CALEB H Very good movie. Highly recommend this wonderfully put together journey. Acting was top notch cinematography was amazing and the characters you can fall in love with. A good movie is supposed to make you feel something in this thriller does just that. I don't listen to the so-called experts, those critics call good bad and bad good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review E L H H This film was SUPERB! One of the best I've seen. The people with negative reviews and specially the critics here are in my opinion totally clueless and obviously ignorant of the period and clearly they can't distinguish the brilliant language, the music, the cinematography, of course the acting, the wardrobes, and everything else. Everything was perfect. Specially Americans can be a bit brute when it comes to real culture. I have a degree in film and I'm Eastern European, so I know what I'm talking about! After watching this on prime, I went ahead and watched it twice more, and now I'm reading the book — written by the same person who directed the film — and the book is even better! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/07/23 Full Review John M Love the Cold War drama and Rebecca Ferguson! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/10/23 Full Review Audience Member A good time piece on communist Russia and how people just disappeared. Fergusson plays dual roles, all done well. IMB rated this much higher and I agree with their opinion. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member ....I guess because I spent 3 years in West Berlin in the early 1960's , this film may have interested me more than the average film fan...It reminded me (a little) of the "doomed romance " angle of Dr. Zhivago , plus the utter depression of working in the counterintelligence Cold War era of "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold" ... Though not as good as the 2 earlier films, I thought it did manage to convey the hopelessness of trying to survive in ANY kind of a "police-state" society....For a current example , I might point to a certain Highly-placed "leader"who recently claimed he had "total power" to run his government any way he wanted to run it..Does that ring any bells?.... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Very gripping period piece Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
