In the end, the film puts spectacle before its own politics. Go to Full Review

It is ingenious how the plot incorporates the stage magician who calls himself Ching Ling Foo (Wei Xiang) into the story as a witness in the murder case. Go to Full Review

As the credits roll, this breezy, sometimes preachy, but admittedly opulent fin-de-siècle whodunnit finally shows its hand with a tacked-on coda sure to raise an eyebrow or two. Go to Full Review

zhumm Mar 1 Great story. Wish peace everywhere every country See more Katherine K Feb 19 Great Movie! Best of this series See more k Feb 13 Feel embarrassed and humiliated. Apparently the writer wants to get some tickets from the dark age of Chinese history but he’s doing it in a very wrong way. Characters are like cartoons, everyone seems to change their minds without solid grounds. The murder case is like a 10 yo’s joke. Trying to do fast paced but the plot is broken. Too many moments asking wtf, and you walk out the theater like a clown. Luckily not a crowded room, so one star there is. See more lynn Feb 11 Amazing day, drove two hours from Kentucky.
