A hyperactive Korean comedy thriller with action packed sequences unravelling at a frenzied pace which makes the story seem incredibly confusing and the film as a whole very clumsy.

Have been watching some Asian detective stories and came across this one at the rental store. It attempts at being humorous and serious at the same. The action sequence are no problem but the plot just has too many holes in them that it seems ridiculous and not funny. And the story just too predictable. Turn it off half way through the movie.

Not as polished, flamboyant nor lavish as his chinese colleague D(ee), in the comedy-mistery arena Detective D defends well himself as yet another asian answer to Sherlock Holmes. Korea popular cinema found a kitsh, sometimes silly, but fresh way to wuxia with a cartooney, almost comicbook style .

The trailers sold this as a comedic martial arts romp, but it was more of a drama with a little comedy mixed in. Screened at CGV Cinemas in Koreatown, LA.
