a delirious riot of odd-couple humour, political conspiracy, monster mayhem, over-the-top action and eighteenth-century detective work (complete with semi-anachronistic appearances of porn magazines, flashlights and even a Rubik's cube). Go to Full Review

A slapdash mixture of comedy, mystery, action and historical drama that proves diverting in spots but mostly exhausts with its genre-jumping restlessness. Go to Full Review
Ernest Hardy L.A. Weekly 03/03/2011
Kim Suk-yoon becomes so heavy-handed in handling the issue of Christianity that the film winds up an infomercial for the religion, complete with syrupy strings playing on the soundtrack as poor believers are beaten by soldiers. Go to Full Review

05/10/2013 A hyperactive Korean comedy thriller with action packed sequences unravelling at a frenzied pace which makes the story seem incredibly confusing and the film as a whole very clumsy. See more 05/10/2013 This movie is really good. Worth your time watching. Very funny. See more 11/16/2012 Have been watching some Asian detective stories and came across this one at the rental store. It attempts at being humorous and serious at the same. The action sequence are no problem but the plot just has too many holes in them that it seems ridiculous and not funny. And the story just too predictable. Turn it off half way through the movie. See more 12/20/2011 really nice and funny! See more 06/12/2011 Not as polished, flamboyant nor lavish as his chinese colleague D(ee), in the comedy-mistery arena Detective D defends well himself as yet another asian answer to Sherlock Holmes. Korea popular cinema found a kitsh, sometimes silly, but fresh way to wuxia with a cartooney, almost comicbook style .
