Audience Member My nominee for Worst Movie Ever Made. With a manga and anime script that works, and free reign to alter it for entertainment's sake...they made a movie that is completely unentertaining. The first 15 minutes tempt you with devil fighting action, which is really all it needs to be fun, then slaps you with an hour and a half of boring, poorly acted, head-scratching awkwardness. It tempts you into thinking action might happen, then they find some reason not to, the main character decided repeatedly not to transform into DevilMan, and you the viewer are railroaded into oblivion. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member The source is a monster of Japanese comix history, basically founding a powerful metaplot about lust, heroism and tragedy, resurfacing more often than not in manga and anime, always with good results... Except here. The love triangle of he, him and she just can't stand when more emo than emotionally charged. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member This live action movie fails to live up the reputation of the manga. It's pretty hilarious but like a half-remembered loopy dream. The apocalyptic CGI graphics and 2nd rate idols used as actors make it into a typical J drama only with demons, severed heads and the end of humanity. A scrawny teen Akira and his best fr Ryo go to the the friend's mansion where the remains of his father exist after the father was part of a scientific experiment in the antarctic which opened up a portal allowing extraterrestrial demonic creatures to invade earth. Giant sperm fly out and possess the heroes, and akira turns into a demon with a human conscience and Ryo is possessed by satan who is depicted as a golden angel of light. Mass hilarity erupts as demons come out of the closet and humans go on a McCarthy-esque witchhunt. Curiously the movie depicts the demon-killing police agency with a star of david, like they are big zionists. Humanity is lost in an orgy of indiscriminate killing. Akira's adopted family is killed and after he walks around with his girlfriend's head for a while he turns into his ultimate form and fights satan over the soul of earth, but sadly he dies. The earth is a smoking ruin and two kids are left to stand watch while the obligatory peppy pop song plays out the credits. The message of the movie is don't mess with giant sperms from antarctica or everyone will become a demon and take over the world. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member love the movie andthe manga version :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member (** 1/2): Thumbs Down It doesn't completely work but it has some interesting moments. A near-miss. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Ridiculous movie. B-Movie directed, complete infidelity to the manga, boring script and terrible dialogue, characters obscene, the actors are unable of acting, cheap CGI. What to save? Some sequences (curiously in CGI), like the final battle between Devilman and Satan. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
