Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com A far cry from Duvivier's heyday... Diabolically Yours is still pulpy entertainment and significant for fans of either of its lead actors. Rated: 3/5 Aug 11, 2020 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com The film may play a little stuffy and stiff in modern eyes, with way too much chit-chat for a proper thriller, but it's an important early example of a curious sub-genre. Audience Member A too hastily wound-up ending mars what could have been an intriguing thriller. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Slow-moving and rather obvious. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member It's really weird seeing Alain Delon walk around in a kimono. I can't quite tell why. It's a lot like how John Wayne wearing a kimono is wrong. Then again Alain Delon is so cool he survives most of the indignity of wearing a kimono around a French Villa while being menaced by Senta Berger. Of course, that's the biggest problem of the movie is the idea that former paratrooper and gangster Alain Delon is in danger of anyone. Still a pretty good movie. Julien Duvierer's, I hope that's how you spell it, last movie and it doesn't seem like it's made by an old man. That's an accomplishment. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Psychological thriller (1967) by Julien Duvivier, starring Alain Delon (in his pretty boy days) and Senta Berger. The plot is not unlike that of “Hysteria” (1965) with Robert Webber. In both cases, a man unknown in his surroundings suffers an almost fatal accident, ends up in hospital, and no longer remembers whom he once knew (or does he …?). Delon for once does not do his poker face act, but performs very well as the pain-in-the-neck layabout who gets more and more frustrated when he finds out things just don’t add up and his memory is getting back to him. The plot is strong in the sense that the viewer knows nothing more than the Delon character. It’s a guessing game for both him and us. Another appealing feature of the movie is the containment idea: all the action takes place in and around the luxury mansion, which is a pleasant and beautiful location to observe. The ending is surprising and smooth too. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member plot-wise this was pretty bad, but by god delon was gorgeous. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A fairly slow moving little 'thriller' about a man with amnesia whose wife, best friend and servant all act very strange around once he returns to his villa. Worth a rental, but it's a slow burn. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews
