Joe Davis Jr. (Dick Haymes), a student who dreams of becoming a singer, takes a job at the Diamond Horseshoe nightclub, owned by his father. Joe Sr., preoccupied with convincing his son to stick with school, begins neglecting his girlfriend, Claire (Beatrice Kay). Claire uses a fur coat to tempt Bonnie Collins (Betty Grable), the club's star dancer, into occupying Joe Jr. with her charms. However, Claire's plan backfires when Bonnie and Joe Jr. fall in love and marry, infuriating Joe Sr.
