A much too familiar map, after a year or so of high-profile media depictions of the princess (The Crown on Netflix, and the coming film Spencer), Diana: The Musical ranks as the lamest of them all.

I loved it and was surprised to read some of the negative reviews. I'm not sure what some were expecting I thought the entire cast did a fabulous job portraying Diana's journey from kindergarten teacher to Princess to quickly becoming the most famous person in the world. I enjoy productions that entertain me (rather than depress me) and Diana: The Musical did not disappoint. If you're wanting a serious telling of the story you probably should skip it. But if you want an entertaining version of her life in the Royal family I think you'll enjoy it.

a BEAUTIFUL telling of the story of Diana, her legacy and a stark reminder that frankly our lives can be cut short at any moment, so we need to make ourselves better people to have the same impact of the late Diana. It truly serves as an inspiration for me to set an example to lead. I haven't even touched on the technical wonders that this show pulled off. And yes, while some argue it's "cheesy", I'd say it's just plainly witty and funny humor.

I remain baffled by the hate the critics gave this musical, and I'm thankful Netflix managed to get it recorded. I have to wonder how much lagging COVID-19 audiences prevented this musical from catching on to audience success in NYC. Similar to "Spencer," the critics seem to have an absolute resistance to depicting Diana as utterly human and flawed. Comparable to JFK, her early death has allowed a mythology to grow around Diana. However, it often prevents us from at looking at the complexities of the person.
