Legendary police detective Dick Tracy (Ralph Byrd) and his faithful partner, Pat Patton (Lyle Latell), investigate the daring heist from a local warehouse of a recently insured fortune in furs. As the pair follows clues leading to shifty socialite Tess Trueheart (Kay Christopher), a growing body count at the morgue hints at the possibility of a serial killer on the loose. Tracy and Patton struggle to find the killer while working to unravel this high-fashion mystery.

This is a fun to watch low budgeter...written & directed with some great "cinema noir" set pieces and interesting characters & villians Jack Lambert's -The Claw and Ian Keith's Vitamin are classics. Lots of inside references- Rosebud Trucking and Hemp St.

Tracy is on the case of stolen furs, not that we care about stolen furs, but at least the criminals are interesting. This is a pretty exciting movie, but it could be better.

I can see why Ralph Byrd replaced Conway as Tracy. He seems more square jawed (but still not as wonderfully square jawed as gould's drawing) and heroic and les like a bogart rip-off :) the story is pretty ordinary but the character of the claw is well written for this b-movie series. good film noir-lite forties fun
