Great footage, a compelling story, along with clever direction and storytelling makes this one of the best sports docos in recent years. See more 06/26/2022 I think this is a very clear and unbiased film about the great myth that is Diego Maradona. He is a god in his own country and not only there. Despite that, people involved in the making of this film treated him as what he actually is (was) a human being. Very nice documentary. See more 08/19/2021 Understandably, Asif Kapdia's documentary is screened this weekend, a few days after we said goodbye to one of the best footballers of all time. And boy is it worth a watch. Kapadia has a terrific skill in drawing you into his films even if you have no interest in the subject matter. Despite having no interest in F1, Senna (2010) had me in pieces by the end, and it's without doubt one of the best documentaries of recent times. He repeated the feat with Amy (2015), and has perfected the style a third time with Diego Maradona, helped by some truly astonishing archive footage. Focusing on his time at Napoli rather than tackling a broader scope, this allows for incredible focus as well as pulling in other themes from his life and applying them to the Napoli years.
