Shadow and Act Staff Shadow and Act It isn’t a hopeful film about “the truth setting you free,” or about reigning justice. But it is a moving drama anchored by Sawadogo’s layered, splendid performance. Sep 13, 2022 Full Review Peter Keough Boston Globe A stark, touching tale about the common humanity that connects people from alien backgrounds, and the institutionalized inhumanity that drives them apart. Rated: 4/4 Oct 31, 2013 Full Review Vladan Petkovic Cineuropa The credit for the natural way the events in the film unfold and the tension slowly rises towards the climax definitely goes to editor Marie-Hélène Dozo, known for her work with the Dardenne brothers and Mahamat-Saleh Haroun. Aug 17, 2020 Full Review Ard Vijn ScreenAnarchy Diego Star is a good little drama, well acted, well made, and everyone in the film leaves a strong impression. Jan 13, 2020 Full Review Brogan Morris Movie Mezzanine Socially, politically and emotionally switched-on, Diego Star is another one to add to your growing list of Quebecois films you want to see. Apr 7, 2014 Full Review T'Cha Dunlevy Montreal Gazette The director avoids easy answers, allowing life's messy complexities to play themselves out in more realistic fashion, and leaving us with food for thought as the closing credits roll. Curtis P A slow burning, taut movie about the plight of an African immigrant stuck in an indifferent Niva Scotia after his ship is pulled out of commission. Isaaka Sawadago excels at portraying human suffering and dignity. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful film. Stubbled upon it accidentally. If you get a chance, check it out. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Une histoire humaine intéressante racontée tout simplement. J'ai embarqué sans être trop ébranlé. La vie est parfois banale. Même quand on vient brasser les choses, quand quelqu'un vient se mettre sur notre chemin on ne voit encore que la banalité....
