It's 2012, and ten years have passed since the adventure in the Digital World. Daisuke Motomiya is now twenty, and he and the rest of the DigiDestined seem to be changing bit by bit in terms of appearance and lifestyle. Then one day, a giant Digitama suddenly appears in the sky over Tokyo Tower. Daisuke and the others encounter a mysterious young man named Lui Ohwada, who informs them that he's the first ever DigiDestined in the world....

This film deviates from the typical style of Digimon films, which may potentially disappoint some fans. Although the film has its strengths, when compared to the previous one, it falls a bit short in certain aspects.

“Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning” isn’t nearly as powerful as the previous film, “Last Evolution Kizuna.” With that said, the updated animations are enjoyable, and the music is still great.

It's a wonderfully nostalgic ride for the Digimon Adventure/:02 old-heads! It doesn't fit snuggly into established continuity, but none of the later additions after 02 have.

It's entertaining and interesting but I don't believe it's memorable. Glad to see the cast mostly return but it's definitely one of the better movies emotionally.

I really wanted to like this movie because I love Digimon Adventure 02 but the story only followed one character named Lui. We learn of his past and kinda empathize with him a bit but there's not much of a plot and the story gets resolved incredibly fast. The Digi-destined kids were there just to make this a "Digimon Adventure 02 movie" but they could have been easily replaced with literally anyone and the movie would still be the same. They probably should have made this a 2-part episode rather than a movie that you pay to see in a theater. Very disappointed because I love Digimon :(

Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning was absolutely wonderful! The characters were all excellent, music was beautiful and suitsd the situations, and everything the creators did is excellent. The ending to me, gives hope for a new beginning.
