Anupama Chopra India Today Amid the reels of tripe churned out by Bollywood every week, Dil Se... is a noble attempt. But coming from Mani, that's simply not good enough. Nov 18, 2021 Full Review Cary Rajinder Sawhney Sight & Sound Though it falls short of matching Bombay's grip and emotional immediacy, Dil Se.. is visually stunning, a high-impact film which stretches the limits of commercial Hindi cinema. Oct 15, 2002 Full Review Khalid Mohamed Filmfare Even with fine performances, technique and music, Dil Se is devoid of that crucial element called a story. Nov 18, 2021 Full Review John A. Faheem M The greatest love story told in Bollywood. Classic. A 1 of 1. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/24 Full Review Suprateek A This film made me feel like a stuffed burrito and I feel delusional. Dil Se can be described as an over ambitious project of Mani Ratnam. My mom told me that one of the reviews said that too many cooks ruined this film which was so true. This film tried to do so many things at once that it fails to prove its main point. I didn't know if it was supposed to be a love story or a political take or whatever. Due to the above mentioned point the screenplay became a train wreck. In my opinion they should've told the entire story from Manisha Koirala's POV which would've made it ten times better. I just found the film very uncomfortable and I couldn't stand Shah Rukh's and Manisha's love track which was supposed to be the main plot. Preity Zinta was the saviour and I found her track better honestly, to put it in better words, it was better told. The best aspect of this film was its songs which were just too iconic, I wish the film was as good as the songs. To conclude I just have no words to describe this film and I feel very dizzy after watching it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/01/23 Full Review Phan T If you need to understand real world issues and convey the message wrapped in love and simplicity then this is your movie. I often think how Mr. Mani Ratnam would have to balance the core message and the commercial elements of movie making - he pulls it through as always. Watched it again after a long time and it is always so refeshing to see how Mr. Mani Ratnam has created this masterpiece - one of many. A. R. Rehman never disappoints; enjoyed every tune he has in this movie. I think this was Manish Koirala's best performance support by the ever so talented SRK - they should have many more movies. Bubbly Preeti Z had a refreshing introduction in this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/28/22 Full Review Audience Member I'm literally crying after watching this masterpiece. Beautiful storytelling, astonished expression and most of all the relatable actions.
