Carlos Aguilar TheWrap Photorealistic backgrounds consistently stun as they clash with the more low-res CG characters, which emulate designs from early 21st century video games rather than fully accomplished animated characters for a production made this decade. Oct 4, 2019 Full Review Matt Fagerholm RogerEbert.com Nothing about Dilili in Paris feels natural or organic. Rated: 2/4 Oct 4, 2019 Full Review Peter Debruge Variety Clunky animation, canned voices and connect-the-dots plotting play just fine to preschoolers on the small screen, but our eyes, ears and imaginations expect more from a feature, and this one irritates each of those potential receptor points. Oct 4, 2019 Full Review Loren King AWFJ.org An adventure tale with an empowering message, this delightful family film is also an ode to The City of Light and to French culture and history. Nov 30, 2021 Full Review Cate Marquis AWFJ.org The animated figures often recreate scenes from famous paintings, and the film adds music by Debussy and Sati, who also appear as characters. On top of all that, the film also adds a femme-centric message in its abduction mystery plot. Nov 30, 2021 Full Review Betsy Bozdech AWFJ.org With its sophisticated Belle Epoque setting and parade of cultural and artistic figures and references, it's almost like taking a trip to a colorful, informative, interactive museum. ines s Great movie! I loved the colours! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/25/24 Full Review Audience Member Less like a movie, more like cursed fever dream. The cultural references do not hide the fact it's literally about an underground child sex slave ring. Enjoyed the rat train. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Too repetitive and boring, italian dubbing was mediocre, bad script, low quality animations. Far away from the beautiful Kirikou and the Sorceress. The only good things are the moral and the photo realism backgrounds. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This is not a pretty and fairytale-like movie at all. It's definitely not kid-friendly either. It has many horrifying scenes, and the story's really traumatizing and I truly wish I didn't watch it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member I understand why Michel Ocelot's detailed dialogues and convoluted script could leave one out of the movie, but I find it a breath of fresh air with an important message for today's youth. And the imagery is just fantastic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie tries to include themes of sexism and racism but lacks focus of each of them and doesn't do a good job at exploring these themes. The movie seems to have very rigid dialog in many scenes with the famous people of Paris. The climax... well, there is no climax. The movie ends with the main villain doesn't pose a threat , no stakes or dangers and doesn't give you a feeling of finality. If ,like the main character, you are 6 years old or have a young child they would likely enjoy the movie. The positives of the movie is that it is not offensively bad, just bad cash grab Disney animation bad. The mystery is unravelled without much suspense or fear, no one is in much danger. The animation also feels out of place, almost like those animation + live-action movies from Disney. If the movie had more balls to show more depth to characters and their nuances the movie would be much better. The plot is laughably bad. I won't spoil it for you but, you really shouldn't watch this movie unless you have a young child who might enjoy it. However, As I said before, the movie has some adult scenes like partial female nudity and sexually suggestive scenes. If the movie had spent more time building actual characters instead of the same perfect personality in different bodies linstead of introducing Marie Curie and Picasso for no reason than to say "Oh look it's <Insert Famous Person from history here>, it would've earned a 4/5. But as it stands, I hold by my rating Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
