Audience Member Disney's attempt at recreating high school musical in China. The film simply proves that the same formula does not work in every continent. While China desperately needs a good musical film, the answer is not a direct rip-off. The story and setting and personalities simply does not resonate with the youth of China. It does not have a clear target audience. The film does have some good song choices, but it is simply not enough to carry the film. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member China's remake of the knock-out Disney franchise, High School Musical, is as extravagant, eye-popping, and well-tuned but 5x better on all fronts. HSM fans and musical fanatics should absolutely try this Disney World Cinema flick. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Loved it, a very entertaining film that gives you a (albeit unrealistic) glimpse into China's college culture. The HSM concept (not story) is similar to the American films in that: there is a new girl at school who is very smart and sings, there is a basketball player who sings and has the hots for the new girl, and a narcissistic popular girl who always wants to steal the show (referred to frequently as "Princess"). The singers in this film are better than the American HSM films. You'll want to watch the movie at least twice, it's subtitled in English and the dialogue is so fast that you basically read the film the whole time. Watch it a second time through to enjoy the choreography (which is excellent). Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I would like to owned this movie. But i heard it is a good movie to watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member At least they are all cute, but Chinese is a really weird language to hear many people singing in. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a good movie. Entertaining, wholesome. Attractive, relatively talented stars. Nice Chinese adaptation of an American favorite. Naysayers are sour grapes. Recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
