Ann Ross Maclean's Magazine No directorial skill in the world could make the first ten minutes seem smooth and convincing or pretty Miss Oberon anything but an annoying pest. Once the point is made, however, the picture settles down to first-rate comedy. Apr 2, 2019 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews A satisfying lightweight British screwball comedy. Rated: B- May 31, 2015 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Though opulent in color costumes and design, this minor British screwball comedy is mostly known for its on-screen teaming of two young actors, Laurence Olivier and Ralph Richardson, in their pre-Hollywood era, who would become legendary stars. Tom M Oberon is adorable and Olivier is great in a rare comedic role. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/21 Full Review ashley h The Divorce of Lady X is an amazing film. It is about divorce lawyer Everard Logan who thinks the woman who spent the night in his hotel room is the erring wife of his new client. Merle Oberon and Laurence Olivier give incredible performances. The screenplay is well written. Tim Whelan did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the humor and romance. The Divorce of Lady X is a must see. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member the chemistry of Sir Olive & Merle Oberon were amazing =)) a fun movie Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant, simple, enjoyable comedy filled with joie de vivre by Olivier and Oberon. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Horrid! I mean I love crazy screwballs and Laurence Olivier but Oberon is grating to the extreme. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member A quintessentially english romantic comedy that does quite a good job of emulating the battle-of-the-sexes rom-coms Hollywood was making at the time. My only real criticism would be the cast, although competent, they lack the charisma and that star-quality you would find in an Hollywood affair.
