Synopsis
Focusing on one of the key figures in both bebop and Afro-Cuban jazz, John Holland's documentary follows American jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie on his spring 1985 journey to the fertile heart of the Caribbean. Gillespie travels to Cuba for a series of shows for the first time since Fidel Castro came to power, and he performs at the fifth annual International Jazz Festival of Havana. The film features a mix of interviews and performances, which reveal the man and his unforgettable music.
