Rated: 3/5 Nov 1, 2015 Full Review Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) The breezy and humorous tone doesn't disguise the fact that Thorpe's film is both intimate and quietly courageous. Rated: 3/5 Oct 30, 2015 Full Review Jeffrey Peterson Indie Film Minute David Thorpe asserts that the inflection in people’s voices is semiotics, a composition of many things, but two in particular: where they grew up and what that place sounds like, as well as who raised them and what they sound like. Kerri L a self deprecating view of your own voice. Joyous. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review cinephile f I think that this documentary handles the topic very well and it is a topic worth discussing. The ending message though was a bit too simplistic as is Dan Savage's explanation of why gay men don't wish to project effeminacy. That part of the film could be fleshed out a bit more. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member As a gay man I fully relate to the mistakes people make in assuming someone is gay or straight by their speech. Stereotypes are covered, how gays are treated badly even by other gays [professionally or socially.] Yet, certain speech patterns are more prevalent among gays [although some straights may also have the same patterns.] I found it interesting to see that at very young ages when children don't even have a concept of gay or straight, gay men often had certain common speech traits. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Disappointing documentary because it doesn't really ask the right secondary questions and search for more scientific rationale for the title question. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Fun and light but with just enough weight to keep you interested. And it has Dan Savage in it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/09/16 Full Review Audience Member Let's just cut to the chase; The answer is yes. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
