T @RT19053080 Mar 8 I think this movie is really misunderstood by those who criticize it. Theres a lot of elements of fantasy in all of Luc Besson's work. I think people forget that written stories, the ones that proceeded visual ones, which is also discussed in this film btw, were more about creatong a parallel universe rather than reality. Like The Professional, for example. If anyone was truly as agile and I hate to even say "lucky" as Jean Reno's character, who ultimately finds that luck eventually runs out, there would be no bad guys left in the world. Its all very well choreographed in order to give character to visceral anc tangible truths. I agree Dogman's end was a little soft But I think it's important to note how the characters blend to create a tale that's brimming with themes like love, loyalty, loss and the primal need for protection. We're so concerned with reality these days in our stories that we overlook the comfort of fantasy and how it can also elicit examinations of everyday emotions See more Wayne K @RT88290232 Jan 26 DogMan is one of those fascinating films with a terrific premise that, while not a ground breaker, does plenty to keep you invested. There’s plenty of times when we prefer animals to humans. Their undying loyalty, their unconditional love and how, sometimes, they seem to understand us better than we understand ourselves. The lead is a complex figure, a man who’s inherent flaw is his inability to connect to other human beings, something which ends up being a surprising advantage. The interrogation scenes that give us the best window into our protagonist’s mind. Driven not be greed or spite but by a twisted desire to do good. Caleb Landry Jones really sells the performance and the gradual transformation, giving us a character full of anger and despair, cloaked with a cheery smile and more than a few polite words. It’s the kind of movie I’d encourage you to see without knowing anything about beforehand. If you do, just like going to the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise.
