That being said, I still believe this film is an amazing and sometimes brutal dissection of trauma, mental illness, loneliness, and vengeance. The lead character MAKES you sympathize with him and even when his statements are obviously based in psychosis or simple hatred you find yourself thinking "Yeah, but he's right." I got Longlegs vibes with some Silence Of The Lambs thrown in but the film doesn't stray into the fantastical. It's pretty grounded but some may feel uncomfortable because it stays grounded in a pretty dark and unpleasant place. This was going to be simple time passer to watch just because. It became a thought provoking and emotionally stimulating experience that continued to affect me long after it was over. This is a masterpiece and well worth your time.
