Irina B Wow, I'm shocked to be the first person to review this movie from 2022 on Rotten Tomatoes. Even the critics missed it somehow. This movie tries very hard to be a Christmas movie, although it misses the spirit of Christmas by a mile. The script is confusing and unnecessarily convoluted. The movie is trying to be a Hallmark Romance and a Hallmark Mystery at the same time and kind of sucks at both. The acting is dodgy in many places, but I don't think it's the actors. It's the dialogue and the situations created for the characters that make it difficult for the actors to give genuine performances. The villain is over the top and unrealistic, and only the actress makes it work because she's clearly having a ball in this role that would make Cruella DeVille cringe. Sara Ball is great as Emily (no last name). She's a lovely actress and mostly gives a genuine and warm performance in the film. Noah Fearnley struggles with his role and at times just looks like either he forgot he's acting, or the director used a bad take. The dog IS adorable. Honestly, it's not the worst Christmas movie I've ever seen, but definitely not the best. I think it just needed a tighter script that didn't try to create a convoluted mystery and surprise twists when the story didn't need anything like that.
