Peter Bradshaw Guardian Much as I wanted to like this lo-fi production, which cheekily intersperses its modestly budgeted scenes with stock footage establishing shots of the city skyline, the movie kept slipping gears and felt awkward and uncertainly performed. Rated: 2/5 Nov 3, 2025 Full Review Tina Kakadelis Beyond the Cinerama Dome Some people really will do anything for a chance at fame, and Don’t Trip is a rollercoaster of an exploration of what it takes to make dreams come true. Nov 22, 2025 Full Review Elijah Fischer MovieJawn Don’t Trip is a shockingly good first effort, one that rarely lets its budget and DIY sensibility get the best of it. Nov 9, 2025 Full Review Daniel M. Kimmel North Shore Movies To appreciate “Don’t Trip” requires making allowances for a low-budget movie with ragged edges. There are some moments where it might feel the movie is out of control, but if you can make it to the end, it’s worth the effort. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 8, 2025 Full Review Bee Delores B-Sides & Badlands At its worst, the film feels ripped from the early 2000s when rampant gay jokes were prevalent; at its best, it takes a bulldozer to the Hollywood Hills. Rated: 3/5 Nov 7, 2025 Full Review Josh Bell Crooked Marquee If Kugelman has anything to say about the perils of the movie business, it's buried amid belabored, unfunny jokes and drawn-out attempts at suspense. Melissa L A cautionary tale of what may happen when you use people...they could just be using you. Twisty ending. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/25 Full Review Irate T Well done, but more Comedy than Horror Despite the really too-revealing cover of this film, it focuses more on a lopsided friendship than horror. It's really quite funny. I found myself grinning widely and even chuckling at parts. It's definitely well-cast. The lead actor is convincing, and the supporting actor is really pretty wild in his portrayal. The lead's girlfriend is pretty good, too. I was surprised with the quality of the movie. It plays like a The Hangover movie, but with a much darker ending and insinuation throughout. Like many Letterboxd users, it seems, I was contacted by someone with the director to view a screener of it. That, of course, added to the fun of watching the movie. But honestly, I was thoroughly entertained by it. In the email that was sent to me, he asked me to watch it. So, I returned the email with a link to the book I'm working on writing for free download. Little did I know that the movie is exactly about not showing unpublished works to Hollywood people. Pretty ironic and funny. He wrote me back with the link to the screener, and a short paragraph that it was cool that I had written a book and that he looked forward to "digging in". Lol. Well, I'm still working on the book... Also, as a final note, the title is weird. Fun movie overall. Having just watched and really enjoyed Under the Silver Lake, this was really interesting. When I told coworkers about him reaching out to me because of Letterboxd, they seemed interested in joining Letterboxd. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/09/25 Full Review Read all reviews
