If you have a bunch of eight-year-olds over for a sleepover and you’re looking for something to stick on the TV, you could do worse than this straight-to-streaming live-action adaptation of the animated show Dora the Explorer. Go to Full Review

If a flawed family-friendly movie can kindle the audience’s curiosity in pre-Columbian civilizations, that’s a net positive. And that’s just the effect that the brightly colored “Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado” could have. Go to Full Review

It is more faithful to the TV series than the last live action attempt. Go to Full Review

With high-stakes stunts and magical elements that go beyond the original animated series, Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado is a thrilling ride the whole family can enjoy. Go to Full Review

Saul N @Saulnicholas Dec 14 Seems like the critics will lap up any slop served by the studios. This is a banal and soulless offering which even had my 12 yo rolling her eyes. See more Ang B Oct 4 A fun movie and a great way to entertain the whole family with an adventure in the deep of the Amazon. Yeah the cgi of Boots is not perfect but he made me laugh. See more Lloyd S Sep 18 I couldn't stop laughing! It was like watching a Mexican tomb raider. Lmao, ridiculous. It was supposed to be an adaptation of a simple kids cartoon, not an action one. See more Sergi C Aug 29 Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado is an absolute blast from start to finish. Director Alberto Belli delivers a joyful, fast-paced adventure packed with clever nods to classics like Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, The Goonies, The Lion King, and more, while staying fresh and totally engaging for today’s kids. Samantha lights up the screen as Dora. She brings charisma, warmth, and comedy in equal doses, making you root for her from the very first scene. An amazing performance in an amazing movie! The tone is spot-on, the music adds a real sense of excitement, both epic and emotional and the cinematography gives everything a vibrant, cinematic feel (special shoutout for those gorgeous sunset shots). The editing keeps the energy high, and the film never loses its sense of fun. Highly recommended for kids and for grown-ups nostalgic for the adventures of their childhood. Pure joy. Totally recommended. 10/10! See more matthias s @Thescreenasvor Aug 9 As someone who grew up with *Dora the Explorer*, I went into *Dora and the Search of Sol Dorado* cautiously hyped. And wow… what a letdown. First off—Boots. What *is* that design? With the budget they had, they could’ve made him look way better instead of nightmare fuel. I did appreciate Dora talking to the camera now and then, but how they handled Map was a straight-up disgrace. And Swiper? Just a pet fox now—seriously? If you have the rights to the franchise, why not actually stay true to it? The plot was painfully predictable—yes, it’s for kids, but plenty of grown-ups who loved the original would’ve appreciated something cleverer. Diego’s personality overhaul was the final straw. In the end, the only thing that felt “Dora” about this movie was her name and outfit. Everything else? A disgrace to the backpack-carrying queen of my childhood. See more David D Jul 27 Samantha Lorraine this is my favorite Dora movie ever you did an outstanding job of filming this movie you are a role model you laugh you are amazing and you're 18 and you make Dora movies like this you can make more like this it's going to be awesome if this movie hits See more Read all reviews
