Alec B This Italian-produced update of Oscar Wilde’s classic trades Victorian drawing rooms for swinging-’70s decadence, and while its softcore flourishes can feel like pure sexploitation, the film surprises with how frankly it explores themes of desire, repression, and self-destruction. By transplanting Dorian’s story into a world of mod fashion, jet-set parties, and sexual liberation, it edges closer to Wilde’s subversive undercurrent than many tamer adaptations, offering a fascinating (if uneven) time-capsule of moral decay in a new era. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/29/25 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely terrible. Barley comprehensible what's going on half the time, changed the original story so much it was almost unrecognisable as the same thing, huge comedy because the acting and script is sometimes so ridiculously bad. Love it a lot, made me laugh at how bad it is. It gets a bit painful to watch after an hour so I would not reccomend watching the whole thing at once. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member The best movie about Dorian.. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member ok version of this which is more faithful to the source material than the 1945 version Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Old school but I still enjoyed it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Dallamano's Dorian Gray captures the essence of Oscar Wilde's Novel far better than the 2009 counterpart. This movie is very true to the book, although modernized, and really captures the gluttonous, hedonistic debauchery that is Dorian Gray. Helmut Berger is a wonderful choice for Dorian Gray and plays the beautifully awful man to the dot. One can't help but be saddened by the little recognition this film has had, for it is most likely the best movie adaptation of Wilde's novel.
