Audience Member Just awful, and hard as hell to follow as it follows three separate timelines of a family suffering from a curse, and aside from the cast of horror character actors there's very little to recommend this one. Rental? Maybe? I'd pass, if I were you. Learn from my mistakes. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member A decent horror movie. The weird thing is, my copy has the title Dark Fields? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member know as Dark field now this one of those erie kinda odd horror films that would be better if not edited the way it was Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member I saw this snore-inducer under the title Dark Fields. Leave the lights out on this one. It's a cheap, poorly paced, entirely derivative film and everyone involved seemed to know they'd signed onto a bomb. David Carradine may have already passed away when he made this movie; it's hard to see any life in his performance. Nothing very scary happens, and while there are some familiar supernatural goings-on, they're poorly executed overall. This one's all wet. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is on Netflix under the name "Dark Fields," and is about three generations in a small town called Perseverance which is heavily affected by drought and a plague that strikes the adults. When a quiet, awkward college student becomes ill, she returns home with her father's promise that they have the cure. Overridden with horrible acting, a low budget, overuse of simple effects like slo-mo and spinning cameras, and bad dialogue, the semi-original concept is ruined. I recommend watching Supernatural's episode "Scarecrow" if you want a similar story with better acting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member the movie, which is entitled "Dark Fields" was originally titled "The Rain" the name was changed prior to release. The movie could not be anymore awful. The utter lack of thought put into the frames makes the story almost laughable at times and at others completely not existent. I use this film to explain to friends of mine just the kind of garbage i love to watch whilst doing illicit substances. I am not sure if they were trying to make, what could arguably be, the most inept script ever. As a film student this movie is a shining example of how not to do a horror movie and a great example on how to make an unwittingly awesome parody. There is no time spent developing the characters. In fact i hated the main character more than the pathetic actress that played her mother. The "survivor" of the past "reaping" was hilarious, she lit a cigarette to literally take two hits off of it before putting it out, I don't know if that was the directors horrible idea or the writers but i would like to think there were many many drugs involved with the production of this movie. I would however recommend this film to anyone who enjoys; overacting, unintentional stupidity and cheesy low budget films. ( sad thing is they probably had a decent budget) There are some pros. The filmography isn't terrible and i do have to give credit to the make up artist who did a good job with the skin effects.
