George Tounas continues his stylish and psychological supernatural thriller saga, blending gothic horror, noir, and religious mythology into a cinematic experience. The film looks fantastic. From the moody cityscapes to the eerie underworld sequences, the visuals are rich and immersive. George Tounas once again delivers a magnetic performance as Dr. Nik Jason. He’s stoic, intelligent, and haunted, the perfect mix of scientist and believer. Ágota Dunai brings a fiery performance as Jenna Knightley and Sabrina Culver absolutely commands the screen as the seductive, powerful, and complex Elenore Towers. Her chemistry with Dr. Jason makes every scene between them feel charged with danger and temptation. Matteo Pasquini did awesome as Lucifer. He dripped malevolence in a terrifying and menacing role. Jannis Sky returns in the beloved role of Joseph Koukouzis. The man can play anything from a gangster to a killer clown to a comforting priest here showing his impressive range. Other Tounas regulars flesh out the core cast: Tuan Ryu Jin, Sarah Mieth, among others. I enjoyed it. "Dr. Jason II - Lights & Shadows" is an exciting independent horror action thriller with a really good story, great characters, good dialogues, good camera work, great art direction, great music and excellent editing. The actors and actresses almost always play first class. "Dr. Jason II - Lights & Shadows" is even better than the first "Dr. Jason" and won some awards at various international film festivals such as for "Best Director". The movie is really good for its low budget! Due to the budget there are some technical weaknesses, but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment. Unfortunately, it's also a bit short because of that.
